Oct, 23Jack-O-Lantern JauntJACK-O-LANTERN JAUNT 6 to 7:30 p.m. Garden on the Bridge, Main St. Willimantic. (Rain date 10/30/09). Pumpkin carving contest (prizes given), all ages costume parade, Halloween Poster Contest Awards presentation from Windham Recreation Department, live music and hot apple cider with Halloween snacks. Free. Carved pumpkins should be brought to the bridge between 6 and 6:30 p.m. (bring a small candle to insert into your pumpkin). Prizes will be given by age groups. Pumpkin viewing 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with awards after 7:30 p.m. You may leave your Jack-O-Lantern for display in downtown store fronts through Halloween.
Oct, 23Open Mic night OPEN MIC IN ASHFORD The nights will start with a host band featuring local and guest musicians playing jazz and world fusion at 7 p.m. and then open mic. Musicians will be on-hand to accompany you or you may choose to perform solo or with your friends. Coffee, tea, water, soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase at a reasonable price. These are family friendly, no drug or alcohol events at Ashford Library's Knowlton Hall, 25 Pompey Hollow Road (Rt. 44),Ashford. Future dates are: Nov. 20th and Dec. 18th. Oct, 24Hebron Farmers Market Every Saturday morning, from 9 a.m. to noon, until the end of October. The market is located on the grounds of First Congregational Church at the junction of Routes 66 and 85. The Hebron Farmers Market brings local farmers, bakers, fiber producers, and artisans, such as soap and jewelry crafters, to Hebron and the surrounding community.
