Dec, 5QUIET CORNER CONTRA DANCEQUIET CORNER CONTRA DANCE 7:30 p.m. beginner lessons; dance starts at 8 p.m. with caller Bob Livingston and live music by the First Time String Band. All ages are welcome, and dances will be taught. No partner is necessary. Please bring soft-soled shoes to dance in and water to drink, and a dessert for the break. The dance is held at the Hampton Congregational Church, 256 Main Street , (Route 97), Hampton. Cost: $10 non-member adults, members $8.00. Dec, 5Rhythms of ResistanceRHYTHMS OF RESISTANCE 7:30 p.m. St. Thomas Aquinas Center, 46 North Eagleville Rd, Storrs. A presentation by Iris Arieli, an Israeli social justice activist, about her mixed Israeli-Palestinian street orchestra for young people. With photos and videos she will describe the role of music within the resistance movement in Israel and Palestine, using art to bring people together against injustices and to strengthen those working for positive change. Co-sponsored by St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel and its Graduate Students Association, and by the Israel/Palestine Peace, Education & Action Group of N.E. Connecticut.
