Feb, 23Open houseOPEN HOUSE The Columbia Cooperative Nursery School (CCNS) will be hosting an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. Parents from Columbia and surrounding towns are invited to attend the event with their preschool-aged children to see the facility, meet the teachers and current parents, and learn about the school’s programs and curriculum. CCNS is enrolling new students for the Winter/Spring 2010 term and accepting applications for Fall 2010 enrollment. The Kindergarten Preparatory Program for four-to-five-year olds takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the school day, the children learn letters, numbers and shapes; participate in group play; take part in a physical education class; and eat lunch with their peers and teachers before heading home. This program is designed to prepare the children for both half and full-day Kindergarten programs. The 3-Year-Old Preschool Program involves a shorter school day that runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During school, the younger children enjoy similar activities to their older peers, but do not eat lunch at school.
