Eastern Connecticut State University senior All-America forward Anna Barry was named the Little East Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.
Barry recorded her 14th double-double of the season last Wednesday with 23 points and 14 rebounds while blocking a career-high nine blocks as the Warriors (21-4, 15-1 league) won their 15th consecutive LEC game with a 62-52 victory over Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.
It also gave ECSU at least a share of its eighth LEC regular-season title under head coach Denise Bierly.
Barry, who shot 8-of-14 from the floor and 7-of-8 at the foul line against the Wolves, is ranked in the top 20 in NCAA Division III in double-doubles, fifth in New England and first in the LEC.
She also has five of the top eight-highest rebounding games in the conference, including the top three marks.
The top-seed in the LEC tournament and fourth-ranked team in NCAA Region II will host a semifinal round game on Thursday at 6 p.m. against the winner of last night’s first-round game between No.5 Southern Maine and No.4 Castleton University.
The Warriors would host the LEC Championship game on Saturday with a semifinal victory.
