No one injured in bridge crash

No injuries were reported in connection with an accident involving a car that drove onto a Jersey barrier on a bridge on Boston Post Road (Route 66) late Thursday evening.

Willimantic Fire Chief Marc Scrivener said the accident was reported at 11:57 p.m. on the bridge, which is located over the Natchaug River, on the North Windham/Willimantic line.

He said Jersey barriers were up because construction is being done on the bridge, near Olympic Restaurant in Willimantic.

One lane of the bridge has been closed to traffic since Dec. 22 as the bridge is demolished piece by piece.
