BRISTOL — Bristol police said they are looking for a would-be robber who tried to get into a car while the driver was at an ATM Sunday afternoon.
His efforts failed when the woman drove away, they said.
According to police, the woman was in her car at the drive-up ATM at Webster Bank, 150 Main St., about 12:20 p.m. Sunday and had just made a cash withdrawal when she noticed a stranger approach. The man opened her passenger-side door and tried to get into the car, she later told police. He had some type of object in his hand.
“She drove quickly from the area,” police said. “No property was taken and no injuries were reported.”
The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build who was about 5 feet 10 tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a scarf concealing his face.
Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Bristol police at 860-584-3011.
